ASSOCIATION OF CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES (ANABAPTIST):
A REALITY
One can say without doubt that the "Association of Christian Communities" owes much to the great historian of Anabaptism who was Ugo Gastaldi (1910-2007).
Some of us, today, now graying, about thirty years ago reflecting on the massive two-volume work entitled " History of Anabaptism " and by meeting attendance with its author, they discovered the courageous instances of this movement that, by a careful reading of the Gospel message, they rediscovered the church of believers - discipleship, community of equals, the renunciation of all forms of violence and the rejection of any power in the world.
It was a seed that had been donated and hoped that sprouted relying completely to the Spirit of God would lead us according to his designs.
This seed, which is enlivened by faith, now has become the reality that is the Christian Communities. They do not claim any title of distinction, except that of being formed as disciples of Christ. This is because they believe that only the witness of life may define their identity.
The "Association of Christian Communities" today is made up of four local communities, autonomous and with their individuality, located in Northern Italy (in Rho and St. George sL, near Milan) and in the South (Palermo and Capaci), also is forming a small community even in Rome. The total number of believers is a total of 231 people. Their spiritual growth, but also numerical, has shown significant. From time to time there has been an increase in both the number of new believers and people who come and attend our communities with particular interest.
The Christian Communities are inspired by the original principles of the Anabaptist faith, without bothering to draw particular confessions of faith that can stifle not only the spirit but also alter the effective witness of Christ's message in their own time. They believe that only the "figures" of Jesus and "His lifestyle", as contained in the Scriptures, to be considered the only foundation on which to shape the life of the disciple, enlightened and strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Christian Communities are inspired by the original principles of the Anabaptist faith, without bothering to draw particular confessions of faith that can stifle not only the spirit but also alter the effective witness of Christ's message in their own time. They believe that only the "figures" of Jesus and "His lifestyle", as contained in the Scriptures, to be considered the only foundation on which to shape the life of the disciple, enlightened and strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Since they can only rely on their own strength, without any outside help, these Communities are often forced to suffer restrictions in their activities. However, they are "rich" because Communities has set all their trust in their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
" ASSOCIAZIONE COMUNITA' CRISTIANE (ANABATTISTE): UNA REALTA'
Si può indubbiamente affermare che l' Associazione Comunità Cristiane deve molto a quel grande storico dell' anabattismo che fu Ugo Gastaldi (1910-2007).
Alcuni di noi, oggi ormai incanutiti, più di trent' anni fa riflettendo su quella poderosa opera in due volumi intitolata “Storia dell’ Anabattismo” e incontrando con assiduità il suo autore, scoprirono le coraggiose istanze di questo Movimento che, da una attenta lettura del messaggio evangelico, aveva riscoperto la chiesa dei credenti, il discepolato, la comunità tra eguali, la rinuncia ad ogni tipo di violenza ed il rifiuto di ogni potere del mondo.
Era un seme che ci era stato donato e speravamo che germogliasse affidandoci completamente allo Spirito di Dio che ci avrebbe condotto secondo i suoi disegni.
Questo seme, irrorato dalla fede, oggi si è trasformato in quella realtà che sono le Comunità Cristiane. Esse non pretendono alcun titolo di distinzione, tranne quello di essere formate da discepoli di Cristo. Questo perché credono che solo la testimonianza di vita possa definirne l’identità.
L’”Associazione delle Comunità Cristiane” oggi risulta composta da quattro Comunità locali, autonome e con una loro individualità, situate nell’Italia del nord (a Rho e a S. Giorgio S.L., nel milanese) e in quella del sud (a Palermo e a Capaci), inoltre è in corso di formazione una piccola Comunità anche a Roma. Il totale dei credenti è complessivamente di 231 persone. La loro crescita spirituale, ma anche numerica, si è mostrata significativa. Periodicamente si può constatare un aumento sia del numero dei nuovi credenti sia delle persone che si avvicinano e frequentano le nostre Comunità con particolare interesse.
Le Comunità Cristiane si ispirano agli originali principi di fede anabattisti, senza tuttavia preoccuparsi di redigere particolari confessioni di fede che possono soffocare non solo lo Spirito ma anche alterare una efficace testimonianza del messaggio di Cristo nel proprio tempo. Credono infatti che solo la “figura” di Gesù e il “Suo stile di vita”, come emergono dalle Scritture, devono considerarsi l’unico fondamento sul quale si deve modellare la vita del discepolo, illuminato e corroborato dalla potenza dello Spirito Santo.
Poiché possono contare solo sulle loro forze, senza alcun aiuto esterno, queste Comunità spesso sono costrette a soffrire limiti nelle loro attività. Tuttavia sono Comunità "ricche" perché ogni loro fiducia è posta nel loro Signore e Salvatore Cristo Gesù.
